For Students
The Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association recognizes that Student members represent the future of the counselling profession and of course the future of the Association as well .
CCPA therefore offers membership at half rate to all students (College, udergrad, postgrad) providing that they are enrolled in a counselling related program (part-time or full-time) at a recognized university.
CCPA also provides a number of documents and resources of interest to students:
Student Membership - Information on how to become a student member and the benefits you receive.
A special Incentive Program for graduate students is also available.
An MS PowerPoint presentation about CCPA is also available to Student Reps who would like to organize a presentation to their group.
In May 2002, the Board of Directors adopted a CCPA Graduate Student Representation Program Policy and Procedure. The aim of that policy is to put in place a network of Student Representatives in every Canadian university that has a Counselling (or closely related) Education Program. The names and coordinates of the Student Representatives already selected can be found with our list of Graduate Canadian Education Programs in Counselling by clicking Student Representatives.
A number of CCPA awards are available only to students including the CCPA Conference Travel Grant, the CCPA/Marsh Student Bursary Award and the Dr R. Vance Peavy Travel Bursary.
